The Adriatic Sea is the arm of the Mediterranean that reaches up between the eastern coast of Italy and the Balkan peninsula as far as Venice and Trieste. It is labeled as such in only two late Sfera manuscripts (see also Tyrrhenian Sea).
This toponym does not appear in the poem, only on the maps accompanying it.
