Asia Major refers to the part of the Asian continent that lies east of Asia Minor (Anatolia), that is, the Caucasus and highlands of Armenia. While its name (Greater Asia) may seem to imply that it pertains to the whole continent of Asia as we now know it, those who used this term in the Middle Ages were using it to refer to the parts of Asia around the Black Sea that were not Asia Minor. This may explain why Asia Major never appears on any of the Sfera maps even though Dati discusses it in his text.
