Granada

Modern name
Granada
Modern country
Spain
Until its conquest in 1492, the Nasrid emirate of Granada controlled the western Mediterranean ports of Almería, Salobreña, and Malaga through the 15th century, conducting trade with Aragon, the Italian cities, and the various kingdoms of north Africa. Probably because Granada is not actually a port city, it doesn't usually appear on contemporary nautical charts and only appears on maps in 10 copies of La sfera; the emirate's other ports appear much more frequently.
