The great basilica of Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom) was built by Emperor Justinian I as the cathedral of Constantinople; completed in 537, it has long been considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. Since the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453, it has served both as a mosque and a museum. Sfera manuscripts Par4 and He1 offer detailed drawings of Hagia Sophia to mark the site of Constantinople.
