The Indus River rises in Tibet and flows mostly through what is now Pakistan before emptying into the Arabian Sea. Like other central Asian rivers such as the Iaxartes, it is not common on the Sfera maps and its appearance suggests Ptolemaic influence.
This toponym does not appear in the poem, only on the maps accompanying it.
