The River Jordan, a landmark holy to Christians as the river in which John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ, rises in the Armenian Mountains and runs south through the Sea of Galilee into the Dead Sea. It is formed in the north by the joining of the Hasbani and Dan Rivers; many Sfera maps identify these as the Jor River and the Dan River (thus forming the "Jor-Dan").
