Mount of Olives
The Mount of Olives is a ridge on the eastern flank of the Old City of Jerusalem; it is mentioned in the Gospels as the site of numerous events in Jesus' life, and in the Acts of the Apostles as the place from which Jesus ascended to heaven; as a result it has from antiquity been a major site of Christian pilgrimage.
