Mount Sinai is generally a prominent feature of La sfera Map 8 (which shows the Levantine coast), while also appearing on Map 1 (a broad regional map of the Middle East). It is often depicted as a tall mountain at the southern end of a mountain range (either Mount Lebanon or the Arabian Mountains), with the ancient monastery of St Catherine's, Sinai, at its summit. At its foot to the southwest is usually placed the Dead Sea, sometimes along with the ruins of Sodom.
