Porto, officially the Ancient, Very Noble, Ever Loyal and Undefeated City of Porto, was a prominent shipbuilding and maritime center in the 15th century. As with Lisbon, its location along the Atlantic coast made it an important connecting stop between northern European and Mediterranean trade routes. As with Morocco (meaning Marrakech), the text of Dati's Sfera elides the name of the kingdom with the name of the city, naming Porto as Portogallo. Interestingly, while Porto (and not Lisbon) is mentioned in the text of the poem, only Lisbon (and not Porto) ever appears on the Sfera maps; this is probably a reflection of influence from nautical maps, on which Lisbon was standard but Porto rare.
