Scythia-this-side-of-the-mountains is a term from the Ptolemaic tradition indicating the region of Scythia (central Asia) on the western (near) side of the Emaus Mountains, including areas like Sogdiana, Bactria, and Turchestan, bounded by the Caspian Sea and Iaxartes River. Its counterpart is Scythia-beyond-the-mountains.
