Susa is a city about 140 kilometers south of Tunis and 50 km north of Mahdia, all of which was part of the Hafsid empire in Dati's day. The Muslim invasion of Sicily in 827 CE was launched from Susa, and the Normans (coming from Sicily) occupied it for a while in the 12th century. Campbell #1677. Susa should not be confused with Susiana, a region north of the Persian Gulf.
