In the Ptolemaic tradition Susiana was a coastal region corresponding to the alluvial lowlands surrounding the ancient city of Susa, at the northern end of the Persian Gulf. The toponym Susiana only appears in a single Sfera manuscript (Bos). Note that the region of Susiana is different from the city of Susa on the north African coast south of Tunis.
