Tabarka is a coastal town, very close to present-day Tunisia's western border with Algeria. While under Hafsid control in Dati's day, it was conceded by the Ottoman sultan to the Genoese Lomellini family in 1540, and held by the Genoese into the mid-18th century. A large Genoese fort from that period still stands just outside the town. Campbell #1697.
