Tremissen

Ancient name
Pomaria
Modern name
Tlemcen
Modern country
Algeria
Tremissen or Tlemcen is one of few inland towns Dati mentions along the North African coast, possibly due to its political importance: after the end of Almohad rule in the 1230s, Tlemcen became the capital of the Zayyanid Kingdom of Tlemcen (1236–1554), with an importance that rivaled other Islamicate capitals like Fez, Tunis, and Granada. Despite Tlemcen's significance and the fact that Dati mentions it in his poem, however, the toponym only appears in 5 Sfera manuscripts.
