Agittariam (unknown)
- Ancient name
- Albanopolis
- Modern name
- Derbend?
- Modern country
- Russia?
Agittariam appears in only a single manuscript (Con3) between the Fascio River and the port of Tana, with a note reading, "Here Saint Bartholomew the Apostle was beheaded." The toponym should therefore probably be associated with the ancient Armenian city of Albanopolis, but scholars have not been able to identify where that was. Derbend (Dagestan/Russia), Albyrak (Turkey), and Baku (Azerbaijan) have all been proposed; we have used the coordinates for Derbend here since they most closely match the site indicated on Con3's map.
This toponym does not appear in the poem, only on the maps accompanying it.
