Diaschilo corresponds to ancient Daskyleion, on the south short of the Sea of Marmara; while there are a number of ancient sites in this area identified with that name, the evidence of contemporary nautical charts confirms that medieval Diaschilo corresponds to a coastal town on the Sea of Marmara (now Eskal Limani, Turkey).
