Europe (continent)

Modern name
Europe
The toponym Europe appears mostly on the T-O maps in Book 3 of La sfera, which delineate the three known continents of the Old World (Europe, Asia, and Africa). The existence of toponym spellings beginning with both the traitional Greek-influenced EU (europa) and the more phonetic U (uropia) reflects the lack of standardization in spelling and pronunciation in medieval Italy.
