Formentaria, now Fuerteventura, is the second-largest of the Canary Islands after Dellinferno (Tenerife). Like Lancilotto, it appears on Angelino Dulcert's map of 1339, as forte ventura.
This toponym does not appear in the poem, only on the maps accompanying it.
